Hi Guys

Im new over to Mac's and therefore know nothing about troubleshooting. Basically, everything has been working great but now Safari, Firefox, doesn't matter which, runs like an old dog! I thought it was the Internet, had rebooted both router and modem but after no improvement, done some speed tests and thats sat at 9mb down and 1mb upload so all is ok there! Downloading from say the MAS is as quick as it should be. Just the internet, pages take ages to load, if they load, i don't know what to do, have checked all updates and I'm up-to-date! I've checked on a windows machine and the internet speed on there is normal, everything loading and loading as quick as it should be! I've just deleted 78gb worth of data, uninstalled programs that weren't needed, i have 1.83gb of RAM free so i just don't have a clue what the problem is. Anyone got any ideas?

I am running at 20 meg down and 2 meg up at the moment with fast page loads and am running safari 5.1, Virgin, on Imac with 10.6.8 coming off a wifi in the house. Not sure if that helps.... probably not. But I would guess it's something in your set up or a recent update?

Interesting. Its gotta be the router of some sort. Just tried my iPad and iPhone and they're just as slow! Its weird how the windows laptop is normal speed on the internet though.

Im just getting soo confused. The MAS seems to be downloading at normal pace, just the web browsing is slow. I tried to download something from the web earlier and had to abandon as it was giving me dial up speeds of a whopping 34kbps. ha. However, it can't be the computer if the iPad etc is the same!

Im also on Virgin and they're pretty good these days to be fair to them.

Absolutely fine. Everything else seems proper slow. Oh wait, everything see,ed proper quick for a minute and now its back to how it was! If i go to a page, its a lottery, sometimes it doesn't load, next time part loads and next time fully loads!
