Spawning an actor relative to the original actor

I am having troubles with a canon based game.

The plan is to have a actor spawn (damaged brick) when the ball collides with an actor (brick) and for the brick to be destroyed and the damaged brick would replace it (like angry birds where you damage a piece of wood etc)

I am not sure how to spawn the damaged brick in the same position as the original.
The damaged brick also has to have the same physics as the original, as one of my failed attempts had the damaged brick spawning in the same position but then it would start falling to the bottom remaining rigid and not interacting with the environment. Can anyone offer any assistance with this problem or is there a better way of doing it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
