Create Buttons

Hey guys,

I try to create some cool Buttons for my first app
I am working with Gimp, but yeah, the buttons do not look really cool ^^

Can someone help me doing that, or give some tips, the buttons should look very simple like the ones at Doodle Jump and so on..
