I made an app in memory of Steve Jobs. It had information about his life and how he started apple. I submitted this to apple a few days ago and they now rejected it. Below is what they said.

Thank you for submitting your app commemorating Steve Jobs.

We appreciate your efforts honoring Steve. However, we've decided to honor his life in other ways and we are not accepting these types of apps.

You can use the Ad Hoc distribution method to share your app with your friends and family. You can find more information in the iOS Developer Program guide.

We invite you to share your thoughts, memories, and condolences at rememberingsteve@apple.com.

Thank you.

Why do you think that they don't wants apps of this nature?

Because there is a biography coming out about him and they have their own plans. They cannot control what you charge for apps also so they prob do not want to allow someone the possibly to profit from Commemorating Steve Jobs

Were you charging for it? To make money off someone's death or disadvantage is poor taste really.

If it was free, then it's just their policy I guess.

I made it free. I didn't make it to make money. I made it to commemorate Steve Jobs

Sure but they cannot know that you will not turnaround and charge once they approve it so more then likely they do not want to take the chance.

Apple and Jobs spent the last 15 years carefully crafting the public persona of Apple/Jobs. Jobs IS Apple, so whatever is reflected on Jobs is reflected on Apple. Thus, they don't want their app store swamped with hastily thrown together apps about Jobs without being able to control the content or character of these apps. Besides, I'm sure you were just one of thousands who thought to create an app "in his honor", and I'm willing to bet there is very little different between any of them.

Apple is going to take any step it can to protect the image of Jobs, even if it means indiscriminately rejecting Jobs related apps.
