Syncing to test adhoc

I'm trying to test a game adhoc (not using viewer), but iTunes needs me to sync my device. In order to do that it says I need to erase everything on the iPad.
Is there any way around that? I have it synced to a PC, but iTunes there won't accept the test file :P
