Joystick control tutorial used but need to limit the downward

Hi,

I am using the joystick control tutorial as a base for my game and its a boat game so I would like it if when the user pulls the left stick back (downward) the boat slows down but does not allow the user to go back 'up stream' as it were.

Any help is appreciated.

anyone? I suppose I could add an invisible non scrolling wall behind the boat...
