Move character

Okey, I created a character which has to jump on walls. I programmed the moves and a wall jump. The problem now is that, when I move right and I hit the wall and I press jump and keep on holding right also, the character only moves upwards and I have to press right again that the character moves right ...

I hope you know what I mean ...

and how is it possible to jump only once when pressing jump? because if I press ten times jump the character jumps higher and higher, and I'd like him to jump on a maximum altitude in the levels...
