If you are using open source software on your Mac, like Gimp and Inkscape and other X11 environment programs, be sure to install the Macports for 10.7 update to make sure they work properly with OS X Lion. If you already had Macports installed under Snow Leopard, it’s nice and simple. Just download the .dmg and click on the installer.

Hi, I don't have Macports installed, but have Inkscape working well on Lion. Do you actually have X11 installed? Don't you have to get that from the develper disk, or is that my bad memory?
When you try to run Inksacape do you also get the X11 icon running in the Dock? If not, you probably need to get it, from wherever you get it...anyone??
I don't know for sure, but it's like X11 needs to run 'around' certain multiplatform apps in order for them to work in OsX. Can anyone elaborate on this coz it'd be nice to know?....

If I open inkscape on lion it opens only the inkscape icon on the dock and a X11 icon in the dock with a little text in it but NO inkscape window.
Where must I download macports and what is that?!

    Thanks

You know that the Inkscape window is 'in' the X11 icon and not 'in' the Inkscape icon?
Sorry, I know nothing about Macports :l
