Hey everyone,

Im looking to buy a new MBP and I was wondering if you guys knew any websites that let you buy them at good prices. I've tried craigslist, but I wanted one with a Solid Slate Drive and havnt found one yet. Anyways, any insight will help. They are really expensive going thru apple !!

Thx again :-)

    www.apple.com

    Generally cannot go wrong there.

I wouldn't spend to much time looking for a special new price. Apple controls the prices retails can sell for so generally you will not get a better deal from the few places you can buy a Mac that in not apple.com or an apple store.

Oh and If your looking for Solid State you might as well plan on dropping a pretty penny. If you can part with the opitical drive I would get an Air. My wifes air is loads faster than my macbook pro

Really ? interesting ! so can a MBA have a SSD ? i thought they had like "flash memory" or something like that. Havnt really looked into this option.

*heading back to apple.com to investigate*

    thx

EDIT -- First sentance on apple.com for macbook air " Flash Storage is Solid State"
lol. answered my own question, :)

Im not sure if you can get an SSD from apple on the MBP yet. Thats a third party upgrade im looking into. I think a SSD and 8Gb ram will make this thing feel like a brand new machine

Are you a student? Apple offers educational discounts.

You could try your local Best Buy, sometimes they have open item macbooks that they sell at a discount.

Well I could get it with my wife's student discount. That would help some i guess. But I did the math thru apple and if i got a high end air macbook with the superdrive ( to be able to install programs, like Logic Pro, which is a must for me ) itt comes out to almost 1,600. For that I'll spend an extra 100-200 and get a 15 in MBP. lol :/

I bought an iMac, it's functionally the same as a MBP but sits on my desk. I struggled with this for a long while, but realized I don't really need to take it any place other than my desk. I have two other laptops and I could save the extra cash. Also, if you nag a bit, you might be able to get $50 off, which seems to be the best I've found...

You can get a reconditioned Apple demo machine pretty cheap and it comes with a full 1 year warranty. Might not be the latest kit, but it will do the job.

Have a look on the Apple site for reconditioned macs.

OR if you're clever, and have good negotiating skills maybe you could get your place of work to buy you a Macbook Pro as a desktop replacement/upgrade. Just need to build a compelling business case to justify the purchase... just dont mention the GameSalad bit.

That a pretty Dangerous idea to be honest. In the US if you invent or create anything while on the clock working for a company they have rights to your creation because they where paying you while you created, Even if its not your job. I would say the same could hold true if you get them to buy a mac and you use it to create anything i'm sure they could claim to own a share of anything you create.

I think that is because you don't have the newest pro?

I think its because of that fancy solid State Drive. I really would like to upgrade my MBP with one.
