Fit intro and main music together seamlessly?

I have a menu music, which is in two pieces. An intro (played once) and the main loop.
I want to fit them together, but I can't manage it.
I let the intro play and then I add a timer where I say "after X seconds play music and loop"
The seconds should be the length of the intro, but even if I add the exact length shown by Audacity in thousandth seconds, I always have a glitch in it.
Any advice?

When I was playing around with this, I was using hip hop beats. Played the intro music, set timer for near end of intro, played scratch sample, and then play the loop. It's not pretty, but if you nail the timings, it will work. As the scratch sample hides the shift from the intro to the main looping track.
If you are playing classical music, you could use an orchestral clash. Techno or house, you could use the industry standard samples like "let's go" or "come on!!". As I said before, not pretty, but if you nail the timing - it can work.
Let me know if that helps you in anyway.
I will try to come up with some solution. If I use a small pause between the two sounds, it it sounds not so bad, but I will have to try to fade out and fade in, so it sounds not like a jump in the music.
It has some other problems too, which I explained in the suggestion forum in this thread:
