0belisk0belisk PRO Posts: 189
iAd said my app is receiving live ads and everything is setup. i download my app and launch it, theres no ads at all...

yes my app is enabled for it, all configured, its just well... no ads! lol

this is for my app called "Stupidity Test" which is free, made by "Mind Blown Apps Ltd."

if any of you have the spare time, could you download it and tell me if its displaying ads on it, or give some insight into this problem, cheers

Go to iTunesConnect and look at the ad stats. Just cause you don't see them does not mean they are not showing. You have to have a lot of downloads to get any decent fill rate.

yeah im looking at the iad stats, and its literally blank. even though it sales and trends says my game was downloaded 137 times yesterday, but iad says theres no impressions, fill rate, or anything. and i still dont see the ads myself either to confirm it, when it says its receiving live ads.

tenrdrmer, what do you mean you have to get alot of downloads for a fill rate?

Are there any requests? If you have requests then your app is setup fine, and apple is not serving the ads. If you have no requests then you have not properly setup iADs somewhere

Apple does not have enough ads to fill every request. So the place a value on you apps ad request. If you have a lot of daily downloads then your app will be valued higher and there for get a higher fill rate. I would not be surprised if there is something flagged in their review process that would set an app at a higher value but that is just a theory. No one knows their exact formula on how the ads are served out. But I do know from watching my apps with ads the higher the daily downloads the higher the fill rate has been. That doesn't mean the impressions are worth anything, just that the ads are being delivered.

it has 0 requests, but it does say "Live: This app is receiving live ads. You have configured ad preferences for this app." so im assuming it is correctly setup, perhaps i should just wait a couple more days and see if anything changes. oh right thanks i see, cheers for the info!

iAD reports update hourly so if its not showing your app is not sending the requests. Maybe you placed the behavior in a rule that is never firing.

Please no offense is meant by this but are you actually a pro member? or did you pull the iAD behavior out of another project and place it in yours? If so it would have been stripped from the project when you published.

Lots of people don't like iAds, but i think GS is integrating a new ad system! http://gamesalad.com/forums/topic.php?id=34333

im not a pro member no, time to ask a silly question that i bet ive misunderstand, i saw the ad system that gs offers which requires being a pro member and thought nah im alright, and used the itunes connect one instead that says it puts ads onto your game.

    *drum roll*
are these the same one? as in the iAd feature on itunes doesnt work unless you have the ad feature that gs offers to pro members?

And there we have it. Yes of course you have to have pro to have iADs says so right in the pricing. It calls them iADs. Apple adding nothing to your app. Therefore for them to send an iAD you app must be programmed to Request an iAD. the enabling it in itunes connect is to make sure that your app can go live due to banking info and contracts and let the server know this app will be requesting ads. Not add an un-programmed functionality.

Sorry. to have ads you gotta have pro.

ah thats a real shame. is there any other way/cheaper alternative to be able publish profitable free games? suppose if not ill just have to add more content into my games and them paid apps.

it just doesnt seem feasible to me to pay $499/year for the ability of iads, would make trying to profit from my hobby even harder than it already is.

Theres nothing cheaper than Free Publishing with GameSalad.

Its a hobby. Why do you have to profit from it? Just have fun.

If your in it for the money then you need to make quality paid games so you can hopefully afford pro. Hobbies generally are not something you focus on making money from in my opinion but maybe that just me.

Nope not just me. dictionary.com says the Definition of a Hobby is:
"an activity or interest pursued for pleasure or relaxation and not as a main occupation:"

Sorry not trying to be an ass. I just think a lot of peoples Games would benefit from forgetting about the money and just focusing on something you are proud of.

oh right, well ill see how it goes with paid apps then and hopefully i will be able to afford PRO, money isnt my main concern dont get me wrong, i enjoy making them and when people ask what i do i pull out my iPhone and show them with pride.

but lets be honest here everybody's preference would be obviously to make some extra money from doing what they enjoy doing the most, i make my games with the intention of hopefully profiting, but of course if not im not exactly disappointed as i can still look back at what ive accomplished.
