Yo!

Is there a way to include downloadable pdf files in a GS application? Eventually I'd like to incorporate this with IAP, but for now, I'm seeing if its even feasible to include PDFs in an app. If not, have any of you used any document sharing services (with payment solution) that you enjoy? Thanks for the help!

No i don't think you can do it ,
You can upload your file to the web , and link to it maybe via url inside your app .

That's what I was thinking, but the purpose of this is to have people buy the pdf file. I was hoping for a clean, elegant look, but I may just be building a mobile website with a paypal link :P

I see , ill tell you what ,
wait for in app purchase , maybe it will help with what you need ,
we still don't know how IAP will work in GS ,
But lets say that it works like this ,
the costumer pays and a boolean attribute turns to true .
This options might help you , only if the "boolean" is true , the costumer will be able to press the link , this way you move paypal out of the way , but all this is just speculations so don't take my word for it .
    Have a good one !

Its actually an interesting thought. You should be able to use the in app browser to open a PDF and from there they should be able to save it to iBooks that opens a new idea for IAP that's way less sleazy than making people buy up extra levels and stuff

I have Pro membership, and I'm sure I can create a mobile website with Paypal that'll essentially act like an inapp purchase for downloadable pdfs, But as you know, user experience is everything, and would love to keep it in app. However, our particular project requires that we have this thing out by Christmas, so I won't hold my breath that GS introduces the ability to allow users to download pdfs (but I'll put it on the list!).

Can't reveal too much yet, but I'll let you guys in on the basic idea. Lets say, this is a birdhouse design app (its not). Users can scroll through a gallery of basic designs, and then customize that design even further within the app. When they're done, they can take a screen shot, share it, or whatever. There will be up to 500 variations they can build. Great, now they can see the birdhouse they designed. The beauty is, if they want to build the thing in "real life", they'll have the option to buy the step by step construction plans for a nominal fee (hopefully in pdf so they can use it everywhere).

If IAP comes out here in Nov, I'll probably try to use POM's method, which will at least let me avoid Paypal (I'm sure Paypal is cheaper than Apple, but its also kinda clunky).

You could take a screen shot of the pdf files, and if you need to make it into a .png i could also assist you with that

No worries, I'll just create an external link. The problem with screenshotting pdfs is that they then become multiple images, and this will wreak havoc on the portability of the file. A pdf can be kept on nearly any device, be printed, and read like a book.
