Copyright laws

how do copyright laws work? if i get a picture off the iternet and i as planning on useing it in my game how could i if i could even?

    If you don't own it by either creating or buying from an artist or from a royalty free stock site then obviously you can't use it.

    Just because you can find it on the internet doesn't mean you can use it as your won. Angry Birds is on the net, you can't just rip it and publish it to the store as your own! Same principle with art ... or anything for that matter.

    Can you use an idea from an app?

    Like can I make an app like angry birds or froggy jump and just use that as an idea and make my own version of it and make the charterers, background, and name is diffrent.

    Technically you could make your own game with the same concept as say "Angry Birds" but realize that if you are doing it for money then you will make none because people will go and buy the actual game.

    Also, I should say that you can get images off the web and change them A LOT and use them. I believe GSHelper.com (TSB's website) has a tutorial on best practices for doing this.
    I often use black and white frames as the backing for my art that I find on the web. But I always change everything beyond recognition.
