Sous Chefs, Forum Corruption, topics deletion

Dear All,
I am aware that there has been an issue in the forums for a while now. Topics are being deleted and people are not being told why. Also fellow members of the forums are then criticizing sous, for not doing there job properly. THIS HAS GOT TO END, AND WE NEED THE FORUMS TO BE ADMINISTRATED PROPERLY. I PERSONALLY AM NOT BIASED AND DO NOT AGREE WITH EITHER SIDE OF THESE ARGUEMENTS. Sous and members alike are now cluttering reopened threads with complaints of deleting posts and closing threads, So instead of cluttering threads with a purpose, here is where you can sort things out, and fix things up.
MAKE THIS A STICKY IF YOU THINK IT NEEDS TO BE DISCUSSED GRATELY AND THAT ALL THE NEW THREADS MADE COMPLAINING ABOUT WHY THERE OTHER THREAD WAS DELETED CAN BE MERGED IN HERE
Just trying to sooth and heal the issue,
Jack

Thanks TSB, I highly regard you as a great and fair sous chef, We all have faults and things have been done so that is the reason why i posted this thread, and i want these issues to be discussed upon it. (I do not hold favoritism to any sous, i was just regarding you in my opinion as a good sous chef)

I some day hope to become a sous chef. And those that have the job should be grateful, so come on here you can sort this problem which we've had for a wile now,

Hmm not sure what you are trying to achieve with this post .. i mean , i get your intentions are good , but i don't think this type of manners needs to be public , I'm sure the chefs can solve those issues in a more private ways with GameSalad HQ ..

I see where your coming from but there has been loads of thread made on this, and it is better to be here than taking up the third page of this thread : http://gamesalad.com/forums/topic.php?id=34662

    Leonard,

I do appreciate your intentions here - Gamesalad - and myself, specifically - want to make the forums a welcome place to discuss issues, share feedback and find answers - regardless of what those answers are.

The sous chefs are a valuable part of our efforts here - as anyone can attest, we can't be everywhere at once. Long before I arrived on the scene you guys have been assisting in guiding the members of this forum and assuring that no one walked away feeling as though their opinion or question would be ignored.

It is important to me that I continue to keep things open and welcoming, and I do appreciate feedback towards how things are handled. Sometimes issues aren't exactly as cut and dry as they appear.

As always, please feel free to contact me directly if you have an issue or concern. I am always happy to help.

Thanks!!, Hope this thread helps you do that!!, "I've always wanted to be a sous chef" *hint *hint (lol joking)

    I'm closing this thread.

    . . .

    Just joking.

    .
I think sous chefs are brilliant and should get paid or a free pro licence . But that's mainly because my pro licence is nearly up for renewal.

Agreed. The forums should be a place where a GS user can feel at home, same for a chef.
I know how important this is due to being a hardcore gamer and admin of many game servers, as well as website admins. It is important to "Maintain the peace".
Because of my experience, I am always wanting to make peace, but I can see how others do not want to do this. When I say Make Peace, I mean ending the conflict, making sure no one gets hurt.

Anyway, just something I needed to say. :P

i think all of the paying subscribers should be reimbursed a few month of free pro membership. and not just the sous (who should be paid free pro as long as they are actively serving). because i know it'll be deleted I didn't post email from game salad responding to my email requesting extended membership.. basically they told me to f off because i didn't use my priority technical support.... i mean WHAT A T&UI ? where is priority support and i've used the forum for supports from the sous since i've signed on? why is gamesalad treating the sous as separate entity? free labor? and their support does not constitute as official support? anyway i'll quite my ranting. sous should be PAID and take out their jobs responsibily as some (you know who u r) have been.

    cheers.

    Ultima -

For me it sounds weird that you would have GS pay the sous because they are doing their job.
Sure, it is a lot of work but, like I said for me, it sounds bad. I would do it because I want to, and it helps the community, not because I want to get Pro.

If they do pay them, giving them Pro and others find out about that, they, the non-sous, WILL want to become sous chefs because they want the money, not because they want to do their job.

Like I said in my previous post,
I am an admin of our gaming website, and our game servers. Why? Because I like to help in which ever way I can, not because I hope I will get paid some day, or because I like having the power.

Don't take any of this personally, Just clearing my head. :P

I honestly don't want to be paid. As we don't do set hours and only help if we want to.

Free pro licence would obviously be cool but I don't think any of us do it for any reward like that. We just all like the software and are addicted to the forum, and as such we like to help and answer questions, close threads if they get too hostile and delete spam. It may not be perfect but it's not bad.

SSS is doing a great job at giving quick answers when he can.

This is how you know you have a good person doing the job. :)
    Great response, Stormy.

So does that mean i'm not a good person if I would accept a free pro license? Cause my broke ass would. LOL

To be honest GS and some sous are way way way to insecure. We absolutely should he able to compare competitors of GS with GS on this forum. Now I don't mean tHat spam and simply saying GS sucks and XXX competitor is better should be ok. But certainly comparing the differences in the software and the advantages and disadvantages of one over the other and vice versa should no question not only have a place on this forum but it should be encouraged. That kind of honest discourse can only make GS better. Unfortunately, GS has developed a minor inferiority complex and is way to sensitive and sometimes even hostile to customer feedback when it's negative. That is to bad because there is no reason for it, the software is awesome.

It seems incredibly odd to me that Sous Chefs don't get a free pro subscription.

the forums topic gets more and more often to be delete after more sous chef came out(and I don't mean about from this), but some threads are weird and don't have a reason

for example, someone just join 3 hrs ago reply to 1 year old thread, and s chef just come in and close and didn't tell the member that you should start a new thread etc.

and yes the chefs work hard, and should get paid if the GS team thinks they are doing the great a job.

    many valid points.

yes we should be able to talk about other engines without some sous chef saying "you wanna discuss corona? go to the corona forums ::closes the thread::"

I agree with TSB about being able to bring an idea to life within SECONDS with GS. can't do that so easily with corona. well, easy yea (in terms of smaller coding), but not EASIER than GS.

its extremely immature that we can't talk about other engines in the misc. section. but maybe its part of their jobs? (forum rules?) idk all i know is this:

the problem is obviously here and been here for a while now. so here is the bigger question...

    What happens now?
  • tenrdrmertenrdrmer Member, Sous Chef, Senior Sous-Chef Posts: 9,934
I personally used to be very much against threads being shut down just cause a competitor was mentioned. having been here now more than a year I fully understand why it happens. Because without fail there is a select group of users here who absolutely love to stir the pot and bash GameSalad at every opportunity. These users pounce on any reasonable discussion about anther SDK's abilities and Quickly turn it into a this why its better. Or if GameSalad has any hope they will fall in line and implement everything these guys have done etc…

Ultimately Most of our moderation issues would be solved if GameSalad would set some solid rules for the Forum as well as give the moderators some rules to be followed amongst themselves.

    One mans opinion of course.

Hopefully something happens for the better. :)

Well no, not really, i created this thread because there were other threads getting crowded with, sous, giving out to each other for closing particular ones, and this thread is now going to be the place where people can post there "why did you close my topic" crap instead of creating a new thread for it,

Im pretty sure anyone who would have opened a Why is my thread closed thread before is still going to open their own thread.

I disagree, it give Gamesalad something to work towards, and it give the GS team competition, which

LOL!!! Ain't that the truth. (tenrdrmer, My apologies again for jumping all over you months ago when my IP was inadvertently banned due to another user's activity--I certainly could have and should handled that issue without getting so mad--thanks again for being so cool headed and fixing the issue without letting me drag you down to my level).

As an aside, here are the things I personally hate the most about certain forum activity: (1) people that bump their own thread without waiting at least an hour (probably should wait at least 3 hours); (2) people that demand help from others, rather than asking nicely for assistance; (3) people that don't at least search the forums and the Wiki before asking a basic question that is answered already (my apologies, I know I have done that at least once); (4) people that say they are leaving to go to another SDK because GS "sucks" or other such pointless (imo) remarks (don't see how that is helpful to any real discussion of the merits of either SDK); (5) people that ask for opinions about their game and then don't seem to take to heart (or at least appreciate) constructive criticism; (6) when its gets so serious (I personally like the most posts that make me laugh or that make me see a different way of thinking or doing something); (7) spam. Just my list of hated items. Overall though, I really love the forums and appreciate the Sous Chefs and GS actively participating.

This exact topic is precisely why I no longer attempt to engage in this community. Frankly, it's not not a welcoming place and therefore is not worth the time. I logged my complaints with GS quite a while ago and to my dismay, it seems to have only become worse.

There are really great community members here and lots of valuable information, but it gets overshadowed by nonsense and heavy-handed antics.
