Come one, Come All ... I need your minds! Platform ideas (beefy)
Hi Everyone
Im just toying around currently with a bit of a platformer, and will introduce some playful puzzle elements. Im just trying to gather some ideas for traps/enemies. So far I have implemented;
Walking Enemy
Flying Enemy
Spikes
Saw type wheel
Metal presses
I would like many different ways to die etc and would love to hear all your ideas, no matter how weird and wonderful. I really have no strict theme as such for it.
Also little puzzle ideas would be great too, so things like needing to activate switches to open doors etc.

I would say make a switch that when you walk on it, it send a huge bolder down on top of you.
That's really all I can think of.
However, you could look at the Prince of Persia games, they have many obstacles and puzzles that could help you. You might already know that, but just wanted to lend a hand.

Loving the ideas guys, please keep them coming, I'm sure others will find it useful at some point too
- A trapdoor which closes, triggered by a switch. The actor has to race past before the trap reopens.
- A nasty plant that grows to impede actor's progress. Find torch to burn plant.
- A trebuchet to sling the actor into the next area.
I was thinking about some sort of trebuchet mechanism as I'm trying to find a good 'exit' to each scene!
- Time Bomb
- Big Enemy with bombs
- Missile dropping planes
- Flippin' Lasers
- An impenetrable barrier of some sort that can only be destroyed by special bombs. Bombs would be on the other side of the scene, and would start a timer whenever picked up. The player would then have to run the bomb from the area to the barrier before it blows up.
I'd imagine this could make a pretty sweet boss fight too.
- Scenes where the player has to keep moving or else be swallowed up in rising/moving lava or maybe even a giant monster thingo that chases you across the screen.
- Platforms that crumble/collapse if stayed on for too long (sending the player into molten,fiery pits of doom mwhahahhahah!)
