I agree as well. This is a completely optional competition, and anyone, and i would think of large majority of those who entered, entered to have some fun, gain some graphic designing experience, and see what people think about their art. I know my submission wasn't the best, but I don't regret spending my time on the logo, I had fun and if I come across another competition like this, which I hope more people would do, I would definitely participate.

I have nothing against the contest. My point was He's fully taking advantage of many users to milk this logo to exactly what he wants. If he hired an Artist to do this it would likely cost far more than $25 with the change requests he keeps making.
You wanna do a contest knock yourself out. but I think this is not a contest. Its a scam to get the most out of as many people as possible for $25. Thats just my opinion of course.

Yes this is cheaper then just hiring an artist but this will also help show off artwork and may get others to take an interest in our work. and like floridagames said its totaly optional. Besides i wouldnt mind buying Modern Combat 3 Fallen Nation!! if I won.

I think your missing the whole point of this here, if people were just doing it for the money, then there would be almost no posts in this thread as the prizes not great. People are doing this for fun, experience, and to share there talent with others on the forums. I personally have been having a great time watching this entire thread unfold and personally find everyone's are style interesting. this isn't about money, this is about becoming a better artist, and getting others opinions and feedback on your art and redoing it so you can make the best art possible, and try become a great artist. I just think you need to calm down a little and appreciate this great art
Well people are doing this for a chance of money(as you can see this post has gotten alot more response than the many "can i have a free logo" threads, I would like to think of it as playing the lottery. Most people know they probably wont win but they do it for the excitement and the possibility of winning.
lol there's a reason I didn't follow his rules and still had fun. if you are good at something never do it for free it devalues your service.. but anyways. for those that tried and played alone, hey... if you have the time and it was enjoyable why not, but for those unsuspected poor fellas thinking that i could win $25. and pours out his heart. it's just not a fair play. I'm enjoying this thread as well, and it's great to see so many fun ideas come out. but we'd have to agree, it's more fun after he stop asking for more (what's what we are calling milking) .... after we had pointed it out. he started to play fair and ask more politely instead of in a demanding tone and just let people do it on their leisure... and there's nothing wrong with that.
P.s. the blue and black contrast is nice but the contrast is too great.. it's like screaming chik. i really like the cute bird too. but judging from the way you are "feeling" the entry. i think you should investigate what kind of tone you are looking to expressing with your logo. people can go on and posting designs for centuries and you'll keep finding more interesting ones, because after you had seen a design. it'll no longer be "interesting" subliminally.. our mind is wired to get excited over "NEW" stuff that's why apple is making so much money... so i think it's best if you throw out 3 keywords what you'd like to achieve. and have people who has too much time (sorry for the sarcasm ) to enjoy making art ..
just my 2 cent... and even though we are uncertain of his practice we are still helping to find a nice logo rite.. no sous has closed the thread. we are just pointing out some minor bad practice that we are spotting.
p.p.s. hum. i have an idea. why don't we redesign the game salad logo for the duration til the end of this year.. and put the skills of the community to good use, and winner wins 1 year pro membership. what u say sous and SSS if you are watching this thread. building community love and love for platform.. nothing can be better. (damn it i should stop giving free advice to gamesalad.. they aint paying me no gift cards)
@Ultima - I disagree with the working-for-free-devalues-your-work statement... I have done more free work in the past years than I care to remember and a lot of the time they were the most fun and helped balance the stress of a bigger project.
In a community like GS - with a lot of newbies and beginners (at least on the art side of things) - doing a free piece of art, helping out with an icon or a logo is a great way to share your experience, show how good design can look like and teach others some basic skills. It's a great feeling to get an icon done in 15min when in 'real life' a client takes a dozen alteration and two weeks before deciding on the final look and feel - which is so close to the initial design you just want to bang your head against a brick wall.

Hello, note to you and all entrys, contest is ending tonight at midnight! I will have a winner announced tomorrow morning, but if people want a couple of more days to enter this, then I am happy to extend it a little, but If not then we'll go ahead and keep the end date as scheduled. Just let me know your thoughts on this guys, thanks.
UPDATE: Thanks everyone who just recently submitted, I got your entry's. To be honest, right now it's anyone's game, there's not a selected winner yet, so if your still thinking about entering, I would say go ahead and do it, the last couple tha were submitted just changed the whole contest of who I thought was going to win, so I guess Im saying, you never know. I have also decided to keep the contest end date the same, which will be tonight at midnight, eastern standard time. So if you submit your design at 11:59 or before that, your fine.
