Hi everyone,

So this android option sounds really cool, but i'm wondering how GS handles various devices with various resolutions and screen aspect ratios?

I'm on the verge of buying the pro license and just would like to be clear about how much work it will take to take my iphone game and kick it out for android.

I have had bad luck getting the iOS viewer to work and wonder if the Android viewer is basically the same. I'm looking to buy a couple of android devices for testing (tablet and a phone). How are apps tested on android hardware since its not using iTunes to push

Thanks!
Caleb

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by this, but on the android you just put your signed app apk on your device and your good to go. It also makes it easier to have others test for you because you can just email them the same file.

On iOS, of course you have to have a provisioning profile along with your adhoc app, so only those devices listed within it will be able to run the app.

Getting the app on the device is much easier. You use the same .apk that you submit to the market as your adhoc.

As far as resolutions GameSalad takes what ever aspect ratio your game is built with an scales it out to fill as much of the screen as possible on the device then the rest is a bar of whatever color your background is. I have found the nook/kindle resolution setting seems to fill out most handheld devices best. and only has very small bars on the sides of the larger tablets.

ok great thanks. i knew android would be easier because of the open nature of the platform so that's good. I just wanted to have an idea of how much trouble (or not) i would have porting a new iOS game i'm hoping to publish soon

Any suggestions for a good well rounded android phone to test with? I'm looking to buy a phone without phone service..

and for tablet i'm thinking of buying a kindle fire as my tablet device to test with.

ah yea that would be great.. yea i don't really need the "phone" hardware so long as the OS itself is still the same fairly current version 2.2 or higher i would imagine is a safe version to shoot for..

You could always get a prepaid android phone and just not use the phone portion or buy any minutes.
