How to make doodle jump like game?

So i want the actor to go up and i want the background to change as it goes higher and higher. eventually, there wil be an end.
how do i do this? Do i make a picture that is that big???

@tshirtbooth, if you are referring to the D.J. demo then you should know it doesn't seem to work now... actor falls through platforms
