Multiple items ?

Hi there

I want to generate a grid of dots that cover the screen.

Like this . . (but more complex) . . . http://img840.imageshack.us/img840/1852/65363396.jpg

Is there any tools, ideas or clever tricks I can use to lay these out - or it is a matter of painstakingly placing each actor on the screen one by one ?

Obviously these kinds of layouts are trivial in applications like Illustrator or Photoshop, but I need each dot to be a separate actor so need to generate the dots in Gamesalad.

In Gamesalad there doesn't even seem to be a way of selecting multiple items (if I could do that I could just make up one row and copy that a few times).

Any clues or ideas appreciated . . . !

Cheers

Thanks John - and thanks for such a speedy reply !

    : )

    Really appreciated . . . .

I can't open the file (I need first to upgrade my Gamesalad to "9.87 or greater" . . . but I will check it out later).

Really my question was less about generating an actual grid of dots (although I do need to do that to) - and more about tools (or ideas) to help layout complex designs, as I have lots of these to do - like I was saying, in illustrator and Photoshop and 3D software (et al) making these things up takes a few seconds, if I want a circle of 720 tiny triangles it would take 20-30 seconds to do in Illustrator . . . but it would be an hours work at least in Gamesald (well with my Gamesalad skills at least ! lol ).

So that's the question, is there a way to drag and copy multiple items, or set up arrays to generate multiple items - or even simply to select more than one item at once (basic layout tools) ?

Anyhow, really appreciate your spawning grid of actors, I will upgrade and take a look later, should save me a headache on the grid of dots thing at least.

    : )

    Cheers

    anytime!

and ahh i see what you mean now you mean like the transform option in illustrator. yeah unfortunatly when it comes to actually laying out the actors in the scene beforehand youll have to do that by hand

    cheers

Yeah, a illustrator type transform option would be cool for doing things like accurately building maze walls or laying out platforms - but like I say even the pretty simple ability to select multiple items in the layout would be a start !

    Anyhow, cheers for the input and the code . . . . really appreciated . . . time to upgrade my Gamesalad I think . . .
