    1. It's only for macs
    2. It can't make you a poker game
    3. My company is negotiating with an investor, who wants to have an online poker game. The development costs were calculated for one year and around 1 million dollar.

Do you really have that money? If yes, I am here for you :-P

well im not some company that wants to be ripped off to make one custom game for 1 million dollars. so one your lying or two the guy that invested in that is the dumbest person in the world. If i want to be ripped off il contact you. I just want a beginner game programmer to make a simple poker game thats all. Yea this program can do that cuz theres a forum aobut making a poker game using this. I dont know why this program is only for the crappiest computers ever makes no sense. Well if anyone can help me hit me up.

First of all I am not lying.

Second: I don't know, why you have to spam your dumb post again.

Third: it seems you have no idea about game development and how long it takes and what people get paid as artists and programmers and componists and such, nor what companies have to pay on taxes and other costs.

So if you think, you will get a working poker game for your hundred dollar, look for somewhere else. You probably want it to be made in one week too.

My first thought was: Are you 10 years old or something?

Your second post really made me despair though. I thought of this:

    http://clientsfromhell.tumblr.com/

Be warned though, it's addictive reading that stuff!

After I got over that, a few other thoughts hit me.

Do you realise that programmers fees are around $1000 a week? How much do you have to spend? Can you afford to go over that amount if necessary (bugs/delays etc)? Do you have money to pay an artist too? They're not cheap either, and finding one that's free may take time.

Then there's server costs, QA costs. It really does all add up. How much are you offering?

Do you have a design document written detailing every aspect of the game? Saying 'I need a poker game' is just not good enough. A design document serves as the foundation for the game for the whole team, and if you're thinking of outsourcing then it's a must!
You need to show game progression, give examples of play, decide how the interface looks and works etc etc.

GameSalad has no online multiplayer functions at the moment, so all this is moot anyway.

Best of luck with your venture!

ok wow you just made my point sous-chef apparently your the dumb one. i know the prices on game programming cost about a thousand but ok a thousand a week thats about 50,000 a year. a year contract for 1 million dollars? lol thats funny. your right i dont know game programming thats why im on here jack. you just proved it to me,so his company is charging this investor for poker games for 25,000 weekly lol dont make sense. i dont even think PS3 games cost that much to program but like i said i dont know nothing about programming but i do have common sense and i do know how much it cost for a game weekly and willing to pay it

Please keep it civilized. Remember that there are people of varying ages and from different countries.

And also, dollars does not always mean US dollars.

    Brad

For success in the future when soliciting the help of others:

    1) Proof read for gosh sakes. Typos are unprofessional and make you seem like a 10 year old or a high school dropout. This forum is good enough to have spell check, those red underlines mean the word is misspelled.

    2) When someone says something you disagree with, don't accuse them of being a liar.

    3) Try not to conflate small disagreements into drawn out arguments with multiple ad-hominem attacks.

    4) You catch more flies with honey. Read what Castmember said very, very carefully if you are EVER going to post to any forum again, or contact any prospective consultant.

And for the record, I think one million USD is a reasonable quote for an online poker game, though it depends on the type. If is meant to be an MMOG where players play with each other for real money, that indeed is a massive undertaking, and I would say one million is a conservative estimate. If it is a simple Flash or Java app, where players play against the system for digital merit, then yes one million is way too much money. But in the case of the former game type, three programmers, two digital artists, one project manager, meetings with admin, development obstacles, operations costs, and more all easily add up to one million.

@Quantumsheep: thanks for the link. It's really very addictive :-)
And unfortunately I have experienced the very same things already, so I laugh with a tear in my eye :-)

The poker game is a fully developed 3D MMO poker game with real money.

The price is calculated for 9 persons working on it full time for one year.

So Bradharley, grow up and finetune your common sense a bit and get a feel for real life.

Ugh, Websense is blocking that site. I'll surf from my iPhone to see what everyone else is laughing about there, but there was plenty of humor in this thread alone.

At least something to cheer me up on this dreary, snowy day, looking out my window at work...

UPDATE: Oh Lord, that's a funny site. Bookmarked!
