How do you do uneven out lines in ai

I googled it this time and i didnt find anything

    1) Select the line you want to make uneven . . .

    2) Then with the line selected . . . go . . . . > Effect > Illustrator Effects > Distort & Transform > Roughen...

    3) Make sure the 'preview' button is checked in the Roughen panel -and then play around with the values until you have something you like.
