Project size and resolution independence

Hey guys, sorry to have to ask this again, I know it has been asked a lot of times in the past, but the new search on the forum seems to be terrible (anyone else think this?) cant seem to get any old relevant posts up. And google search seems to bring up old posts that don't work anymore.

I just tested an adhoc build, the adhoc file I get after publishing with GS is 25.9mb. Is this accurate of the final size? (I'm screwed if it is :S) Or is there another zipping stage somewhere where the file size might change again. I thought I read that somewhere before. My actual GS project file is 17.8mb.

On the same topic of file sizes. I've got 1 scene that has about 70mb of ram usage, so I won't be targeting 2nd gen devices. Is there any point in me ticking resolution independence (hence, increasing file size with more images). Or would 3GS be able to run that scene? (Does it need resolution independence?)

Thanks in advance.

The thing to consider when using resolution independence is, did you make your images with this option in mind. All it does is takes the images you import into GS, and then makes duplicates with half that resolution, and uses them on older devices. If you made your images already the size you wanted them to be displayed at, checking R.I. is a waste. If you made them double the size you want them to be, because you knew you would be using R.I., then clicking R.I. is the way to go, of course.

Adhoc is as close as you are going to get to the real deal, so it's files size is the closest representation you will have to judge by.

ah good point slickzero, I've been so used to just making images double size, kinda forgot lol, that was my intention. I seem to remember 3GS is low res screen compared to iphone 4 onwards. So there is no further zipping sending to Apple.. looks like I got to try shave of 6mb from somewhere then :(
