Extract Coding

I know this program is limiting so that you will go out and buy another program, or it's setup in a way only for beginners to "play" with. However, adding a feature to extract and edit the code would take these games and programers to the next level. There are obviously limiting factors to the program as used on this site, so why not let the end user tweak his/her own code?

    That defeats the object of it being a platform for non-coders and would expose the GS game engine to reverse engineering and code theft

    @AplaudEngineering
    Referring to another thread earlier today, were already exposed to reverse engineering but i do agree, i hate the idea of code stealing,

    How is this code stealing? You're creating a game of your own design and you would like to refine it more. Yes this site is meant for beginners and non-coders, but what happens when you reach the limits of the software? Then you're forced to learn code anyway.
    I use this same basic concept in many things that I do. I create basic websites using Dreamweaver and manipulate the code to do various things. I also use paid services like PSD2CSS to create some of the code. It's much faster to create a basic platform and then expand on it than it is to create from a blank page every time.

    In order to do that, GameSalad might as well not exist. It's a program for non-coders to make games. People that know how to code are better off doing just that, instead of being limited by what GameSalad has to offer right now. In order for them to give complete access to the background happenings, they open themselves up to what was said earlier. Reverse engineering. Us non-coders can't do anything with access to the Xcode editable file, and have absolutely no use for it, but people that do know Objective-C can exploit the code, doing away with what GameSalad has to offer. Their Pro features would no longer be Pro, and would be hackable for anyone.

    If you know how to code, then GameSalad is not for you. You should stick with Xcode, and have access to all the things iOS has to offer for free. GameSalad offers most of these things for non-coders at a price, which is what convenience is all about. GameSalad takes a lot of the headache out for most of us. As for others that are more advanced at coding, you can't have your cake and eat it too.

    I thought this was a good idea, which safely done so maybe it is. But GS losing it's secrets isn't a good idea...

    Well said @SlickZero

    I guess I just don't understand why this and other programs can't work together. I for one am more visual in the way I create things. Being able to simply add attributes and such to an object is much more intuitive than typing out a line of code. However, with the limitations on certain attributes or other factors, I would also like the ability to manipulate parts of the code.
    I'm not trying to take anything away from Gamesalad. But just as photographers can get RAW files and tweak them in Photoshop, doesn't take away from camera and lens sales. There's always room for improvement.
