TSB Video: Random Number GEN. Do you think this will work?

So this is the vid.

I want to make it so it works with random timers as when you have a random time that you want to loop it doesn't play a different time each time in GS. It selects the random time ONCE then sticks to that random time until the scene resets or something.

Playing with it at the moment. What do you guys think?

He demos the technique in 4.10 from start to finish, i'd say its worth 5 minutes of your life to try and tweak it and find out if it works for timers ;)

Yeah. I have, not really having any luck... I can get it to change once.

To be fair, i just wish they made 'Random' actually 'Random'.

    Haha ya

Maybe a chef can change it(or they don't have this power anymore?)

I thought this was code relevant... The categories need sub titles for blonde people like me.

I've found a method that makes random time work!!!!! :D

what do you mean the random isn't random?
whats wrong with the attribute random?
jw... sry to sound ignorant, i always see ppl complaining about it but never really noticed it affecting my games.

Doing random timer only works randomly for the first number that is selected, if the rule is used again in the same scene before any reloading is done it only selects the same random number that was selected before it. For timers only.
Unless used with custom made work around rules.

That is cottect, and it works as it should be, if you want a random timer to change every time.. Make a self attribute -real- call it "random timer"
Then in your timer attribute choose it as the timer value.
Once the timer triggers in and does all the rules that are in it, add at the bottom a new rule (inside the timer) to
change the attribute "self.random timer" to random(min, max)

    Put whatever values you want..
    Hope it helps.
    Roy.

    Yeah, that's what doesn't work unless with a custom rule : )
