Resize Image Question

Hi All,
I have a large background image that I have to shrink in order to get it into Gamesalad and then blow up again once inside.

The quality of the image really deteriorates doing this.

I just want to know if theres a way of getting a better quality?

Also I can't make the picture into smaller pieces because of the prohibitive file size and performance issues.

i had the same problem i split it into 4 peices and put it in gamesalad and joint it together no problems
