Graphics Help

JemilTTSJemilTTS Member Posts: 11
Hi, I am wondering how I can make my graphics look retina. For example, for the main menu i was going to make a it 480 by 320 then make the pixels per inch high. Would this make it look good on a retina screen? Is there anything else i can do to make the graphics look good?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Just make your images Double sizes
for Example background make it 960 x 640
and image 100X100 make it 200X200
and every thing will be fine

Thanks everyone but i just watched the video and it talks about the blocks of 8 stuff. Will 960 by 640 be ok or should i try and make it one of those exact numbers?

Listen to what ncartoon said, he knows what he is taking about ! : )

    > "i was going to make a it 480 by 320 then make the pixels per inch high"

Changing the PPI makes no difference.

    A 480 by 320 image @ 50 PPI is 480 pixels wide.
    A 480 by 320 image @ 1 PPI is 480 pixels wide.
    A 480 by 320 image @ 1,000,000 PPI is 480 pixels wide.

Ie: changing the PPI makes no difference to the resolution of a file.

like said above just double the size of your art check R.I. and youll be fine

also keep in mind all images in gamesalad have to be 72dpi(ppi)
ppi/dpi does effect resolution and quality when it comes to gamesalad, and having them not 72dpi can ruin the quality and cause size issues

    @John

"like said above just double the size of your art check R.I. and youll be fine"

    [pedantry] . . . . *quadruple* the size of your art (ie: double it in both the X and Y dimensions) . . . . [/pedantry]

If you just double the X dimension you will, of course, have a very long (landscape) image (960 x 320), I suspect you don't want that.
If you just double the Y dimension you will, of course, have a tall (portrait) image (480 x 640), I suspect you don't want that either.

    So . . . . we know the resolution of the iPhone's retina display, which is 960 x 640, so I'd make your artwork, unsuprisingy, 960 x 640.

Make the image 72 ppi and scale the image down in Gamesalad.
