if you can't fight them, join them =).. j/k. but not really. whoever reverse engineer your stuff, take them out legally, whoever clones your feature, clone them back.. whoever that doesn't clone you, and is doing better than you are.. clone them too(er i mean learn from)... it's the cycle of life...

I feel pretty strongly against piracy and copy/assets paste catz.

Regardless if the creator's intention is an homage to the original (character or game), the fact that they did not research the legalities and the do and don'ts beforehand, is just as bad as blatant disregard. This is the real world of legal woes. If you want to build a reputation why would you build it on a foundation of deceit OR ignorance?

Can't believe people can't get their own ideas... But then there's games I've wanted to make my own version of to.

Gamasutra has an article, What the Copycat Saw: Creative Theft in Mobile and Social Games, concerning this topic.

All I say is talent isn't a one hit wonder by the time they copy you, you should already be onto you next big creative leap. This is the MO of guys like Disney and Jobs, two of the most copied men of all times.

i think the people that clone games are in for the profit rather than the actual thing that most of here like doing, GAME DESIGN. i have so many ideas i want to make into games but of course ill just have to get through those slowly over time. no way would i want to make someone elses idea before my own.

not much you can do though really. originality doesnt come by often. safe bet is if you come up with a good idea for a game, try your best and do everything in your power to make it as good as possible before you release it. that way any clones that come along will have a harder time trying to compete with the original.
