How to animate a slime?

So i've been starting my character development for a game and i want the character to be a slime. Here are some ideas i might base my slime off of:

so my only problem before i make my own slime is i don't have any ideas on how it will move. I don't want it to hop when you move the character so any ideas on how i should animate the slime? I was thinking maybe like an inch worm or something?
*EDIT: oh yah its a side scrolling game*

I would make the bottom edges withdraw and expand like when water flows over a glass and add some subtle ripples.

I would go with a very subtle skew in the shape - it's moving but more in a gliding manner - like Jello on slippy slope.
