What is the latest ios verion supported by xcode for testing?

I have an ipod touch with a version number of 5.0.1. Xcode says it supports only up to 4.3. Is this true?

If so, is there a way to return it to version 4.3?

What version of osx are you running.. 10.8 or Lion? If you are on 10.8 then make sure you have Xcode 4.2 I am running osx 10.8 and Xcode 4.2 and my iPad is running iOS 5.0.1 and I have no issues.

Lol what is osx 10.8? Lion is 10.7, snow leopard is 10.6.. 10.7 is the latest build released to the public.

Well, I downloaded Xcode 4.2 but when I open it, it says:
Cannot open, no mountable file systems

Make sure you get the snow leopard version of Xcode it is below the lion version.
