an animation is a series of images that the animationBehavior changes at sequential time intervals.
this is the essentially what movies, videos, cartoons do.

for simplistic graphics a series of 2 images that loop (continue) will work … more complex graphics with smoother flow of the implied movement, need more images

    in general for running:
the front leg (bent leg) is copied and placed as the back leg
the back leg (straight leg) is copied and placed as the front leg
both are resized/shaded … the original legs are erased
and the blank/overlapping spots are filled correctly
(or whatever gives you the effect you want)

open GameSalad … New … the Platformer Template with the little blue guy … click on the Player actor … scroll down his behaviors and you will see how GS does animations … using 8 images.
… copy out those images … just double-click on them in the animationBehavior and they will open in Preview … save them and use as guides for arm/leg/body placement with your work.

enjoy learning this! you'll want to animate everything!

    that certainly does help!

@SpriteAttack just love your work … like how you show simple shapes become unique body parts!

also, finally scrolled down enough to see your Follow By Email option … and of course! signed-up … think everyone should! ;)
