bring back forum whos online

think its better to have the online members list like the old forum.

a) its just nice to see whos currently browsing the forum. it also kinda helps to make the forum feel more "alive"

b) if you wanted to ask a soul chef something (possibly in a hurry) we could see whos actually available

    agree, I like the whois online a lot

    and I think there is an addon on the vanila

    I did like it however, i can see the other side of the coin ... TSB said he hated it because as soon as people knew he was online they would send him emails. It can feel lonely when you're hanging on the forums, don't see anything updated for a while, at least with the 'whose online' you knew others were chilling too. ha

    liked it also … think TSB should have shot their emails right back at them … but, he is too nice a guy to even be rude to rude people ;º

    perhaps GS could give the sous chefs anonymity … ???

    I liked that feature very much. But, like others are saying, TSB hates it. :P He, and perhaps all sous chefs, should have anonymity like MotherHoose suggested.

    Im glad its gone too. Just like tshirt, i would get a bunch of skype messages, pms and emails whenenver i was browsing the forum.

    well, think one could just have a form reply for email pesty-ness:
    "That is a good question! Think you should post in the Forum so others can benefit from the answer."
    same for the PMs

    and copy/paste in the skype textField (or just turn off skype when you are working in the Forum)

    @JohnPaplomitis … I can understand how you feel … but, ultimately the forum is for the benefit of the users.

    often just knowing that someone is online with you at 3 in the morning is comforting …


    Vanilla Forum's whosonline Pro does have an invisible option for users … though the complaint/comment section suggests it is as buggy as usual for Vanilla,

    @ MH of course the formum is to benefit the users, thats why im here to help people as much as i can. Im not referring to the friendly email or skype message of hey you think you can help me with something or take a look for me. Of course thats always fine and welcomed by me. Im referring to the people that will spam you saying i know your on the forum i can see you signed in answer me, or the people that would send multiple messages one after another cause your not answering and they see you signed in on the forum. Theres times where im say eating, or about to leave, or on my phone or something and its extremely hard to type, and im just popping to check a persons game progress or something like that. I also leave my computer on all night logged in the forum, and people would think there being ignored when really im in a different time zone then them and just sleeping.

    @John … and you do such a good job here for all of us! … very attentive and responsive and knowledgable!
    all while trying to make your own Projects and live a life offline.

    as I said, I understand … spammers and jerks and bAssholes are more prevalent then ever … still I would like the whosonline (sorta a norm for a forum ;)

    think to make everybody happy, GS should have Vanilla debug their invisible option.

    how about just number of people online? then people won't have that problem

    and have an option to check visible or not is cool too

    some of the forums has a light on your icon green means online, yellow mean been online a day ago, orange meen a week ago, red mean a month, gray means over 3 months ....

    hope GS cab add something like that soon
