Questions about certificates and the GS viewer

Hallo, I'm always late for a party.... After more than two years working with GSC I'm only about to be putting a GS viewer onto my iPad, and getting the certificates, make my first ad hoc as well as publish the app and hopefully get my first app into the App Store (all in just over a week/week and a half's time). Definitely slow-footed me...

And like a previous question, I guess that answers to my two questions will probably be obvious when I've gone through the processes. However, if anyone could answer the following questions before I get going next week, that'd be great:

(P.S. TSB's videos look to be invaluable; I'll certainly be following them closely).

Certificates: what are the certificates for? i.e do I need a new certificate every time I have a new GS gamefile, or every time I update the GSC viewer, or something different? Or are the certificates just a one-off process? (some of you might be saying now: "You don't know THAT?" ;-)

The GSC Viewer: This looks relatively straightforward (if I follow TSB's advice!) to put a viewer onto the iPad, but I thought: when there's a viewer update/newer version do you go through the whole process again to install, or are there simple steps to update it?

If you don't ask questions, you don't get answers, they say! Any help appreciated, thanks.

I have one dev certificate for the viewer called 'viewer'.
When creating you set your devices that the certificate is allowed to install onto. i.e. phone, iPad.
Download that file and double click to install into Xcode.
Download the viewer from GS and edit the info.plist file to match your name you created. i.e com.gyroscope.viewer
    Plug in phone and install.

Certificates are valid for a year so need renewing every year.

When the next viewer becomes available you just edit the info.plist file again to match the com.gyroscope.viewer
    Uninstall current version off phone.
Plug in your phone and install the new version through Xcode again.

This is in brief but should answer your questions. If you don't have a certificate setup you can't install the app, this is for development purposes. Updating to latest viewer should just be a case of editing the plist file.

TSB's video will walk you through though and the editing of the plist etc will make more sense :)

Sure thing FBS, as I mentioned in my first post here, they look invaluable.
