Community down for an open source project?

Hey guys,

So a long time ago, when I was just a young Gamesalad seedling, I made my first game, Tap Them. It's dear to me, not only because I actually enjoy playing it, but because it's my first creation and I can go back and laugh at how unpolished it is, how infantile I was in the decision making process, etc. As with anything, I am much more skilled with this engine now (and game development in general) and have always wanted to go back and gut it open, and make a great game out of it.

This is where the community comes in. Let's make our own app!

How fun would it be to let the whole community design an app, piece by piece. We can load the entire project on mediafire or something, and let us all go at it.

My thought process:

1) One dev at a time, let them improve it (be it graphics they made, or code, whatever....anything) and then post back here with the improvements or changes they made. Leave detailed notes for the next person to leave off at.

2) Let the next person in line do the same thing.

3) Repeat this process until the community is happy with it. I will then release on the app store free and give credit to the whole community for it.

So, what do you guys think? Sound fun/like it could work? I think it could spur interesting talk, and help others who may be new to Gamesalad. (i.e. I'm sure there would be differing opinions on how to "spawn" things, which method is most efficient, what would make the game more fun, this sound is better than this sound here, etc)

Sweet! i might be down. Lets get some more info going on that. Maybe we can do pixel art so the visuals will stay the same?

sure would be more fun than being stuck in 4-5 projects … the mystery writers used to do this a lot (each one writing a chapter!)

so I would enjoy trying this one!

Yea I think it could be fun! Sharing the whole dev process with other people, coming up with ideas, game concepts, etc.
