Does updating your App always put it back into the new section?

I myself have been using GS for over a year now and haven't released an App.

Today someone told me when you update your App it goes back to the new section, but some other people have told me that when they update their App, theres doesn't goto the new section.

For anyone who's reading, what have your experiences been like?

I've done three updates on two games and they have never gone to new section.

It never has 'intentionally', there was a bug at one point which was causing updates to show at the top of lists again but i think that has now been eradicated

That sucks :( Got so pumped when I heard it did.

Made me think, I could just release an update a week and keep working on my projects until people loved them.

Nope because everyone would do that and no new games would ever been seen. Imagine all the updates to the shovel ware as well

    That's true!

Odd thing is he's pretty serious about, even showed me a screen shot showing his game back in the new section :S

On the appstore on my iPhone, New releases also include updates or so it appears as build numbers of some are generally greater than 1.0 (which would imply and update)

I've done 4 or 5 updates now between my 3 games on the App Store, and not one of those times did it put me back on top of the list anywhere. I think it might be people that have released a game, and then immediately come out with an update to fix something that didn't show up until release, and got an expedited review for the new version. Either that, or it's been a successful game in the recent past, and Apple does it on their end to give it another push, since it's been updated.

I dunno, that's just my theory.
