Almost impossible to make money on Android Market with paid games.

I noticed that people just don't buy applications on the android market (Ok. I already knew that, but I didn't knew it was so bad). I released a good paid game (at least, good graphics) After several days, nobody downloaded it, except me.

I released a Lite version of the same game. The market already shows 26 downloads in just one day. Not so good, but better.

The best way to make money on android would be by ads and free games.
But, as gamesalad team are not worrying about helpigng us to make money from android there is nothing we can do. Kiip won't work.

While this, the team behind StencylWorks (another drag and drop game creation tool. Not so practice to use as gamesalad, but very good too, and with some features that gamesalad doesn't have), will release android publishing between february and march (at least a beta). They also are planning to add AdWhirl.

I love gamesalad's usability, but I need money to survive. So, the first easy to use tool, that adds a good Ads service like admob or adwhirl will catch my heart.

but he's rite, android market makes me 1/100 of my iOS counterpart... simply because your game gets buried with a gazillion of crappy games.not to mention iOS users are generally more wealthy. It's not like gamesalad don't want to help you, sometimes it's the platform (in this case android market) that's at fault.. let's face it.. it's called androids for a reason.. google's idea of robotic marketplace that makes them money... lol.. cheap little robots filling the stores selling more robots to street full of robots, unmanned uncontrolled... and out of order... good censorship sometimes works wonders.

"But, as gamesalad team are not worrying about helpigng us to make money from android there is nothing we can do. Kiip won't work."

I don't think that is a fair statement, personally. They are doing everything they can to get these features out to us. They just take time. I hate to keep saying this over and over, but GameSalad is still in beta, and there is a lot more stuff coming as soon as they can get it to us prior to the 1.0 release. And how will we know if Kiip will work or not until it has been implemented and put to use?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I don't think the revenue generated from Android adds will make a difference between a persons survival, or eventual demise. They may not have all the features everyone wants when they want it, but they are doing a great job at advancing the software into a great creation tool, and they are doing that based on user input and feedback.

Almost all top selling Android games, are just games that first arrived to iOS and made a big success. So, they just ported. When the game is already famous on other platform, it is probably featured as editors choice and gets a good position due to this.

I've been making a good daily amount on the amazon app store. Since you have to be allowed like the iOS store, there is so much less crap. Getting on the kindle is even better.

GS is stopping me become successful because if they didn't exist I'd be making successful Apps.

I am being sarcastic (actually it may be facetious) - I think the argument is ridiculous:

"gamesalad team are not worrying about helping us to make money from android"

I just posted a thread similar to this. I think the amazon market is much better than google. There is a surprisingly large gap in my sales on both stores. I think amazon publishing is free too. You might want to check it out

    Hi,
We are a small indie studio of 2 developers and one designer. We have release 6 games in the last year to Apple, Amazon and Google Play.
Our biggest success is Amazon, following by Google Play. On Apple we make around 10 bucks a day... I'm not interested in publishing our exact revenues but I can say it's in the 4 digit range (monthly).

You can view all our games on our web site, we think they are high quality games especially in the educational games domain:
    www.remarkable-games.com

For all our games we provide a free evaluation version and a full version.

So, our experience is actually that it's easier to make money on Android and push yourself through the ranking without spending thousands of dollars on PR. Actually on Apple we are not really sure how to go forward..

    I wanted to try to publish on Android but without advertising opportunities is really hard to earn...i'd like some other ways of advertising on GS finger crossed that we will have another service in the future;
but admit it's also hard on the Appstore, I only earn few money with advertising ...i think there are too many great games free and this does not help us in sales....
