Is this possible in GS?

Hey guys I'm sure some of you have seen this interactive book on iPad.. its pretty sweet. I am working on doing similar something with GS... but am having some problems.. here is the video to see what I would like to achieve.

My questions:
The biggest thing I am having problems with is making characters with arms and heads that move...and somewhat bounce and snap to their original location. Like if you touch the guys head you could move it back and forth like it's on a spring... but it would have a limited range of moment and couldn't be detached. Would this type of thing be done with gravity? or constrain attributes?

I would have to believe that this can be done in GS because it is pretty versatile. So is this something that is easy to do and I am just not thinking my way around it? Any help as always would be great!

Thanks guys!
Rob

I image it is with some work arounds. This is where joints would come in handy. There are work arounds for the joints and I would imagine if you fooled with the friction level you could get the spring effect with a pair of rotate to commands or by using the accelerometer. I'm curious as well because I like Atomic Anetelope's work.

my take is that it is not joints, but image animation with minimal number of images in a sequence (maybe just 2 changes on some things)
look closely at the rabbit at the table … his lower half is part of a bg image and the head is the only thing that moves!
in alice with the cards only her arms move …

they are using the gfx from the original book … you can see the differences when the add their own!

IMO you can do a book in that interactive-format in GS! and with your background you would add fantastic graphics!

I'd say just wait for joints. Then That would be relatively easy.

    With GameSalad anything is possible!
    Sort of....
Anyways this would be do-able, however a lot of work. Most of the effects are all in the graphics, so if you are a wizard with graphic design go for it!

    Best of luck,

agree with everyone, joints makes it faster

@pixelgun there is no RM for now, but I think joint will come soon

I've looked at the video three times now and cant see anything that GameSalad can't easily already do. (I also do not see even one joint in there.) The answer to your question is a resounding YES! GS can do it all!

For example the head bouncing is as easy as using FMG's elasticity demo. It seems to be missing from GS these days so here it is. (I hope FMG does not mind me sharing this.)

All you would need to do is replace the ball image with a head image and its good to go!

    Hope this helps!

I suppose you could just do ton of graphics, but this would take up a lot of space a be time consuming.

I still say just wait for joints. Good Luck.

    @RThurman

Yep pretty much what RThurman said, I've had the iPad book for a while and I can't see anything in there you can't do in Gamesalad - even without joints.

The one thing, the only thing, that wouldn't be easy to do is that the pills that you can push and pull around the screen have a pill shaped collision area, that might be something you have to compromise on.
