An idea on how to get a more realistic feel while going up and down slopes.

Hope you enjoy.

    Cheers Brian,

If you have 2 rectangular platforms next to each other and on the same Y axis it could still cause a rectangular hero or mask to collide which is why i always have circle.

It seems these videos are not very popular judging by lack of comments so i will get my head down with some work for a while now.

Im sure many will find this useful, just probably not many working on platformers. Its a good tip nonetheless, I'm quite some way through a platformer, if i knew this at the start i would of probably worked it like this but have all my artwork done as is now.
Its something i would certainly try on future projects though so thanks for the tip .... now back to work ;)

    Cheers

I'll add this and the beginners one to the Unoffical gsguide. If it's embedded on your personal site I will link it there just like I do with tshirt's video that are embedded on his site.

i'm trying to apply slopes to the free platformer template here http://www.mediafire.com/?odhem2f2hga43w5

but i can't seem to get the circle mask aspect running. probably that is why ineed a working template as a guide. been banging my head for hours trying to figure it out

what i did was i altered the black walls in the platformer template above to a certain angle, saved it as a slope actor. changed the hero mask to a circle type, if the hero collides with the slope, it inherits the same wall properties, plus it rotates the hero to the same angle as the slope - making it seem the hero is moving upwards naturally. somehow it still doesn't work , hope the chefs here can help
