Just rocked some stuff out with tables! I love how it saves time and can make quick adjustments on the fly! All I need is an interface that remebers where I left off in my tab and my workflow will be awsome. Oh and BTW while I'm on the subject. Why don't both landscape, portrait position come pre checked? Apple requires it to be that wa,y so it should be the default! @SSS can you pass that along as I'm sure it's an easy add. =D>

Apple requires auto rotation for landscape or portrait not both!!

@Rob2 I think he means that if you select landscape, all scenes should have both options checked, the same if you select portrait. I tend to agree with this.

I personally don't understand the relationship between Device orientation and interface orientation... and what is Face Up, Face Down and Unknown for in Device orientation? Goodness knows.

"Cant wait tell we can search and write to them"

Ditto, TSB; they'll come into their own then won't there... the power, the power!! :-)

    my take:
landscape Left is when the HomeButton is on the Right
portrait Up is when the HomeButton is Down

so it is easy @gyroscope … Left is Right and Up is Down
and that don't make any sense!

could you, please, ask Goodness to share the knowHow with us?

@MotherHoose says: "so it is easy @gyroscope … Left is Right and Up is Down"

Ah all clear, MH....... !! THat's the way I look at it (very puny, ha ha) that device orientation left and interface portrait right is the same as device orientation right and interface portrait left, few instance.... and Face Down is when you want lie flat on your back holding two arms upright to read your iPad (like we do) and Unknown is .... you don't care which way around the iPad is held as long as your interface is landscape left... which could be right if the iPad is held the other way.... ah, flooey.

Added: sorry bout the interlude in your thread about tables, FBS, but you did mention orientation! :-)

At present, other than using tables for all my level rules, I'm failing to see how i could implement them to help me out!

@Fry … here is one way for getting the Interface you wished for:

default on Macs: [shift]+[command]+4 … takes a screenshot of a selected cursor-sized area and saves it as a file on desktop

when you create a GS table … do a screenshot … drag the shots from your desktop to a folder in your projectFolder
    (myFolder is called TableScraps)
change the shotName to the name of the GS Table

Have the shot open in Preview.app while you work … you can Annotate to keep track of your progress … or problems

    ===
this is not as time consuming as it first sounds … actually saves time if working with numerous/complicated tables

I have asked for separate windows for Preview and for Tables … Preview to maintain the Editor state … Tables for visual reference.
but, think we will have to wait until we are out of Lua!

@mh why don't just export the Csv instead, you can't edit the png not that I know of

Beefy got what I meant. When your app is landscape Apple requires it flip either way so it's out of the norm to not have both left and right landscape checked and it doesn't default that way so I have to go through all my scenes and check the other one . As for searching tables couldn't one do a text entry and do a random command with a = to the text entry and when it is equal display that row column? @beefy_clyro are you kidding you can make one actor and with a complet set of code linked to a self attribute make them all do different things as well as display a different images all from one prototype actor.. Watch all tshirts and the video Darren did on tables. Darren did this thing where it draws your whole map automatically, it was so crazy!

I will in next update we can include change attributes in tables. So we easily save score, levels in tables.

@calvin9403 … FryingBacon wanted a way to track where he left-off in his work; he wished for an interface to do so in …

Certainly a .csv export is editable … but you have to open your spreadsheet.app (or open it in TextEdit) to edit it
Also, dyslexics find it easier to work with visual material

Often when one is working with tables, one wants to see the total content of the Table … when clicking Home > Tables and then back, back … it sometimes is difficult to remember what you looked at in all those rows and columns … easier to reference an image that is open behind your GS.

you can Tools > Annotate in Preview.app and scribble all over any.png and save your scribbling!

Plus when I work on a prototype actor that I have sorted by tags and I go to an actor on scene to edit when I back out I want the interface to not reset back to all actors and back to the top. I want it to remember where I had the actor window set so after I back out. Right now I have to either scroll back down through all the actors to get to the one I was working on or select what tag setting I was on. Talk about a pain in the porkchop :((

@FryingBaconStudios Oh ya, i watched the pro webinar, watched all of tsb and darrens videos on tables, but i don't need any of those things for me yet! Im looking at my current game(s) and I'm not seeing the huge benefit of where i could introduce tables. Trust me, i want to use this feature but i guess I'm not working on the right type of games for them yet!

Well thank Apple I have timemachine as I deleted a page from the webstie by accident when I added new stuff and just went back in time and was able to get it back, as when I saved in Hype, I overwrote the file. I love it when tech works! Oh and HG Wells says hi.
