    1. Yes the lag in performance is happening … everything we do, every change we make in GS is stored in memory
in the initial designPhase of our project … we make lots of changes!
Need to save your game and quit GS to clear out the mem … click on your project to re-open GS
(good to do a Save As… and, often … have a back-up in case something you do causes a crash … or lightening strikes)

    2. you have to debug your code to find out when/why this is happening
In your cannon or cannon ball … comment out (turn-off) last rule … Preview (you can preview in the sceneEditor or in the toolBar Preview)
is the white square gone? … no:: fix it … preview…still there: try the another rule … till you find the one that triggers this
also: do most all your rules/behaviors in the prototype … don't unlock scene actorInstance till everything works!

    3. do you mean make the scene bigger? click [Scene] in the Inspector > Attributes should show in the pane
… click size and put in the Width and Height you want

    4. health/lives are covered in many videos … watch some and this will be easy for you to do

    5. you set the attributeSize of the actor in the actorAttributes pane to the size you want to have it in the scene

mayhap you need a break @pitso … take some time-off from work and enjoy some videos!
@tatiang … has some nice ones that he uses in teaching his classes: http://www.youtube.com/user/SaintMarksTech
and, SSS has a great list in the yellow sticky at the top of the page: Useful Links

I have been around for awhile, and have other programming experiences … yet, I try to check-out every new video/demo!
… more knowledge; another skill learned; less frustration … is certainly worth the 2 to 5 minutes of my time!
