Bomb Explosions Comic style

Does anybody have any tutorials in how to create a comic styles bomb explosion.

For e.g. kaboom, boom, or even skadoosh

Fowl Ops. has a sort of comic explosion in the bonus level .... (sorry about the cheeky self advertising!) .... check out at 40 seconds is that what your looking for??
