Thank you!

OK, jump on the Mac store and download 'Screen Record Pro-Lite' It won't do Sound I think, but allows you to record any part of the screen at any size. Good quality too.

If you'll be needing screen recording software for other things besides TOTB I'd get Snapz Pro X from Ambrosia. It's great stuff but has quite price tag on it... If you'll be using it one time though I'd just use Quicktime.

    Best of luck,

Like I said. @TheMoonWalls is asking for FREE software. My suggestion is free PLUS has the ability to record JUST the canvas area you want.

QuickTime records just the area you want with/without external/internal audio; with/without mouse clicks

and you can edit in iMovie

how can u get internal sound to record on quicktime?>
i have the one that comes with lion and the only audio options i see for screen record are none and internal mic. which just records what the speakers play, but thats a crappy recording.
does quicktime have the capability to just record what the speakers r sending out?

little white downArrow ( to the Right of the record control) lists option for your Line-in microphone
(haven't hooked-up my audio system yet on new computer … did use on old)

have you SystemPreference > Sound > Input … and checked "Use ambient noise reduction"?

you can do some editing in QT clip-split; rearrange clips; trim; add clips

@morphine you will need something like SoundFlower or WireTap Studio to record system audio. I use SoundFlower but have not upgraded to Lion yet.
