I'm a noob in this kind of thing. I know how to make a character customizer screen buy how do I make the character have all the customizations in a single actor? What I mean is, if you can choose hair, face, torso, legs and shoes, do you have to make a sprite for every single combination?

    Yes, you would need a different sprite for each and every combination.

    I have this same problem. I have had to be very careful about image compression, and ofcourse it means alot more artwork :((
  • You could always try making a separate sprite for hair and body etc. and give each sprite the same movement and any other necessary scripts with x or y axis differences.

    Say there are 4 options, so make the blank template and name it 0000, then make one called 1111, 1112 and so on. With every thing you choose for customisation, make it change the option attribute, using an integer. Eventually you will have perhaps face 1 skin 1 eye 3 hat 7, you'd have the image you named 1137 to represent your faggot.

    @tatiang … yep he said it '1137'.

    …. oh wait you meant:

    … As for the character customisation stuff… yep lot of images is the way to go here, and Doob Games idea is a good one. Thats a very similar setup to something I've been working on for my own character customisation. (which is now on hold as I've gone off piste to learn some other bits n bobs).

    Also worth noting you can tint the colours of items inside of GameSalad. So make an item in white (grey shades) and tint it inside of GameSalad. This allows for a number of different items (hair, hat, jumper etc) using the same image. Simple yes, but I thought I'd point it out.
