Haha well lets hope we don't see any ripoffs (The Lost City - Has Been Found :) ) , especially not from GS community .
But if people will be inspired and make creative point and click adventure with their own style i don't see anything wrong with that.

I've been working on a point and click since October and still have months of work left to do. These type of games take forever to get right.

I actually came to GS to make those kind of games, just exedently made an interesting prototype of different game, and decided to make a game from it.

I thought Darren was working on a point-and-click adventure game. It looked really cute.

FireMapleGames worked hard on The Lost City... and built on a legacy, as Grizzly Manor was one of the first big GameSalad successes.

There's been a common debate on this forum as to what makes a successful game. Often I would argue that better tools make for better games, while defenders of GameSalad — not that I'm against GameSalad — would argue that it's the developer that makes a good game. After seeing Joe's recent success, I think the debate is settled... good software was used by a good developer to make a good game.

I don't think it's so horrible to see imitators. They can learn and improve and maybe make their own hit games.

@mynameisace i have a patent on it 10 years ago, let me find the papers on it !

@Photics i agree.. good developers can make good games with ok tools... it's just that the platform becomes their restrains... yet... restrain is sometimes a good thing.. until you get bored with it that is of course, so as long as GS keeps coming up with new toys (like tables as they have) I think we'll keep on having fun.

    Guilty as charged!

Told Joe about an idea I had for an adventure when I visited him in November, and he told me to bloody do it.

    So it's his fault!

And yes, the same developer has a hit game with two different tools. Which obviously makes the tool the deciding factor. As opposed to his talent and experience.

    *sigh*

I truly believe that don't give your project a time limit, work on it, tweak it, get all the bugs and keep it fun.
Maximise all areas, Code, Art and SFX. It's guaranteed to pay off so long as you do the right planning before diving into the Project.

Done this for my first game. I'm getting a little impatient and I wish it was finished! But it will be a stepping stone, but I think it will be considered a fantastic game being my first game :) I won't say I hope that happens... I know that will happen!

Gotta have faith in yourself :D

Edit - hahahaha QS. Hurry up and do it :P

No probs QS... I would do it to, but seems like everyone is gonna do it now and i'm at least two months away from starting a new game.

QUESTION: Anyone know how to do a large waterfall animation as good as the one in TLC? I really want something like that for my current game.
