Just a tip - Spend the money and Play EVERYTHING that is hot in the app store.
Even if the game sucks, find out why yourself.
I've been trying to play most of the top games. It only makes sense that if you want this to be a serious job that you would study your field.
A good architect would travel the world to see what other people have built. An NFL coach or player goes home and watches every other game from sunday all week over and over. Etc Etc.....
Ive also downloaded "position app" and set some top apps to favorite and a few random ones
To try to see some of the trends and better understand the app store market. For example ive really been watching "glow Doodle" just because it has changed categories so many times and now it is free. I cant help but wonder what they are up to with that.
I know a lot of us do this but, its easy to miss something we should see.
Wish i would have played Angry Birds before making "protect your Nuts"
Now thats a catapult game. Sad that my game is so much like it and now that i downloaded it last night I cant put it down.
I realize i cant make something that smooth with GS yet just due to the FPS issues but, i think i would have made some things diff had i have seen something near perfection in my genre.
Just a small bit of advice. Take it for what you want.

Do upgrades count towards rank?
Glow jump has gathered over a million DL since going free.
If they do count (although i don't think they do) Moving back to paid and releasing an update would gather a few thousand DLs while in the paid category.

Most just say no so, i guess it is hard to know
Watching Glow jump i hope will show something at least
If they go paid and are in the top 25 in the first day then a would think some of the updates count
Even though it was made by a company it's still a hell of a lot.
The key to this...RECYCLE ACTORS
I am not sure if the update itself downloaded counts toward ranking, but I believe so.
I didn't look at it really since a long time.
