Spawn and grow

Hi all,

I'm putting the finishing touches to my game which I'm planning on giving away as a free template on here soon.

I have a few final things to do to it first, and thank you all for your help over the last couple of weeks.

I'm trying to create the following effect for a bonus level. I've seen the effect before in one of the templates that used to be built into the GameSalad template area, but cant seem to find it.

Basically, this is what I'm trying to achieve:

On touching the screen, it spawns an actor wherever you have touched, the actor grows bigger until you release your touch and the actor falls to be bottom of the screen.

If anyone could shed any light on how to do this, that would be great. I'm going to carry on having a go too, so if I manage to crack it, I will post the file on here just in case anyone else ever needs the same kind of effect.

Cheers guys,

Chris

John, what can I say, that's exactly the effect I was trying to get, and thank you for taking the time to make an example, that's very kind.

    Cheers,

1 think though Jon, just wondering if you could help with this one, I'm using the file you've made, which is great, just wondering how you make the actor fall on top of another spawned actor, I've made it so the spawned actor bounces when it colides with itself and brought the restriction, density and friction down to 0, this works, however, the actors slowly start to drift up the screen? is there a way of actually stopping the actors drifting up the screen? It's more than likely a balance between the attributes of the actor?

    Cheers mate,

I can't see John's file (as I am still on version .9.90) but here's a quick attempt, might be something useful in there:

    Hi guys,

Ok, I'm going to admit something, I'm totally baffled on how to do this.

Basically, I'm trying to make a game where you touch the screen an actor is spawned and grows until you release.

The image area is 100%, and the idea is to basically fill the screen.

Ok, sounds simple.. you guys were incredibly helpful this week in basically 'giving' me a template to achieve the touch the screen to spawn and grow an actor, however, I'm having problems with the % side of things.

I've done this, and it kind of works (setting an atribute to 100 and for every second you're pressing down it takes 1 off and when it hits 0 the scene ends) - right, well, this kind of works but not properly and isnt stable for some reason.

So, basically, help guys... for months I've started and stopped making games, and this one is one I really want to get done.. any advice into how to achieve the % counter would be GREAT!

The below game is available as an xcode project on github, however, I really would like to re-create something similar in gamesalad (as I would love to add it to my current game as a bonus mini game).

Thanks again everyone, I really do appreciate your help (and believe me, I really want to stop filling this forum with messages about this).

    Cheers,

    Chris
