If I made a video that shows my app for marketing purposes, wouldn't people steal the idea and make the game? I just want to be cautious with this type of stuff.

If this is an original idea , I suggest posting info only if you deeply into the development so that no one can create it before you finish yours.. But if it's like a common game type like an endless runner or something of this type so I don't see any reason to fear.. Either way, if you have concerns, don't post any info until you submit the project, just so your mind will be peaceful
Well how can I market my game then? I was thinking of making a "hype video" but I don't want people stealing my idea. Facebook and Twitter can only do so much but I don't know.
I believe screenshots is your way to go if you are afraid people will steal the gameplay concept.. So you can post screenshots, but don't talk about the gameplay just yet..
Make a video that tells the story but not shows gameplay for example. I am building a trailer for the last months. It is a 3d Pixar like movie telling the story of the game but nothing about gameplay. Look on YouTube for professional gametrailers. Lots don't show any ingame stuff.
If you've built most of the game and start generating enough hype for the game then you're already a long way ahead of someone who then steals your idea as they have a long way to catch up. If your video gets say 100,000 views and one viewer decides to steal your idea then you've still promoted to 99,000 people who won't and may download it game.
If it's a good enough concept, someone is going to take inspiration from it anyway. Maybe not pre launch, but certainly once you've got it live.
If it's an interesting enough mechanic but your not showing it, then you're really limiting the amount of hype you can generate.
