Any news on a possible price change?

I noticed some people have been talking about GS changing their price. I know nothing is confirmed but I'd love to just know if there is or isn't a price change coming soon. I'm planning to upgrade to pro soon but I'm hesitant because of this.

I personally would not expect any price changes. the Price is getting more solid with each new release of new features.

@TSB I'd be really interested in a lower version. All I really want is no Playhaven, IAP, open url, and iAds. I don't really care about Android publishing or Kiip (unless some people have a lot of success with it).

yea, those people talking about a price change are just wishful thinking I feel. there has been absolutely no real indication they are even considering it.

LOL So you basically want all of Pro. I don't think anyone uses all pro features on each project. And FYI I have had very good android success on the Nook.

@tenrdrmer Yeah pretty much haha. A lot of game development tools split Android and iOS publishing into two different products, so that's why I mentioned it.

But since you've had success on the Nook I might reconsider not wanting Android publishing.

Thread hijack since it's dead in the water. @tenrdrmer How long did it take BN to accept you into the developer program? Its been a week and I haven't heard anything...

It would be interesting if there was a plan that costs less but limited the number of release apps/games you could compile and get via GS. I want to buy a Pro license but I only want a couple features and I've had some success that leaves me "on the bubble".

The question that is tough: Is this a shared success model? Right now it really isn't in that people pay the fee and take a chance at making that money back. Or perhaps see it as a hobby fee (I probably should) for a great product. For some others I think they would be willing to pay the Pro fee or even more if they saw wild success. A base fee + shared revenue model would be perfect but it isn't feasible with the App store.

Anyway, I'd like a plan between Free and Pro.

@LiquidGameworks It was nearly a month long process to get to a point where I could submit an application. BN doesn't generally email you any notifications so you need to be logging in to check your status nearly every day. I do seem to remember it being almost 2 weeks just ot be approved. Then another 2 weeks to have all my bank and tax info approved.

I hope things change price wise. I really do. I think it would give GS a huge boost in users and money. I am finding the only Pro feature I am using Android publishing, and adding my own splash screen. I have tried iADS, and http links, etc..and I will NEVER use PlayHaven or Kiip so basically I am paying just for those 2 Pro features.

@tenrdrmer Thanks for the tip. I logged in and I was accepted :P

I have no problem paying for Pro... Except that when I paid for it, I was paying for the epic list of improvements that were supposed to take place. The next 6 months will really be important as to whether I jump ship. I really like GS, just the little things. Like SNAP TO GRID, or at least lock actors in place....I'm going to utilize Kiip, but I don't like that there isn't any analytics...

Nope don't care at all about GameCenter. Never use it as a regular user/player and don't really give a hoot about adding it to my apps. I like knowing it is an option but don't see myself using it.

I think the price is fine where it is. It's called "Pro" for a reason, and $500 is reasonable if you're truly a professional developer.

now, now … pro membership does not mean you are a professional developer … pro means you spent $500 for features! …
GameCenter; URL; customSplashScreen; iAds; iAP; Android publishing; Klip; PlayHaven

4 of those features are for generating Profit … for the developer and GS but also for Klip/PlayHaven/Apple …
and, except for Klip, at the expense of the customers.

that isn't professionalism … that is commercialism
