hi so i need some help in gamesalad

1. So i have a actor that i want to have a weapon on him that can hit stuff and break it can i do that if so tell me?

2.How do i make a block turn pics when you hold on it so it cracks then something drops and a item falls out that you can pick up for points or a item?

3. Can i have a menu where the user can pick a item and the actor will get it or the user can rang around?

4.Can i make my game online with game salad so people can see each other on the same screen with no lag and they can do things together optional?

5.Can i make my actor change weapons and items when in the game?

6.What a are tables for and how do integers and all that stuff work with GS?

    so i cant click a button and change weapons can i have 2 actors on at once on gs like a person with a sword and move it around and hit the guys when you press a or t to hit the enemys

    ok so i did what you said i understand how tables work but nothing elese not very helpful and can i have a live chat on it like you do on the click here and then you can type it up then people can see what your saying like a chat box that other people can see

    The links are not useless if you would actually look at them. The youtube videos cover just about all the functions that GameSalad can do. You should sit back for a couple of hours and watch all of them. There's no simple post to answer all of your questions, and show you how to do all of that. It's obvious you are just starting out with GameSalad, so you really need to get a basic idea of what is going on with the software. Those links I provided you will do that. You need to educate yourself on some basic functions of GameSalad, then, when you get stuck somewhere, this forum is here to help you with any problems you have. People here are more than glad to help with any issues you have, but they aren't going to build your app for you.

    And no, there is no network function at this time in GameSalad, so a chat program is not possible yet.

    That's a great way to get people to help you. Be rude to someone that took time to help at all. What you need to do is go research the stuff yourself. There are Cookbooks and Youtube videos with this information for a reason. People have asked similar questions frequently on the forums so search for it yourself.

    The reason why we make these videos is so that we don't have to answer the same questions over and over. By taking the time to produce a video to demonstrate how to use gamesald we save time to be able to work on more complex questions users have. Nobody has to answer your questions, we are not your servants, we are helpful people. Do your own homework as there are tons of material to study.

    integers are numberValues … as are real attributes and indexes
    You can click a button and have the actor change weapons.

    things don't just work … you have to tell the computer, with rules and behaviors, when to do something and what to do
    that is what programming is … instructions to the computer!

    People have been trying to tell you that you have to learn how to do things … you have to know the basics to do anything.

    Open the videos and open GS … pause the video … and try to make what you have just watched … happen in your project.

    Learning in GameSalad can be a delightful easy adventure … enjoy yourself!

    1) Use animate behaviour, when ButtonHit is pressed, change a boolean attribute to true. In the character, when boolean is true, make the character have a hitting animation.

    2) Animation again... or just simply change the image to that item.

    3) Yes, choose an item and have a boolean attribute to true, in the character actor, have a rule says when boolean is true, change image to the character holding that item.

    4) No

    5) Yes, same as number 3.

    6) Tables is to store data, which you can call inside the actor. Integers are whole numbers, which you can use to keep track of score etc...

    When you watch the videos they teach you how to do all kinds of things with gamesalad. Now for example the video for say making a health bar, it's not really about making a health bar as much as it's really teaching you how to grow and shrink and actor using an attribute as the reference for the length. Although the subjects of the videos may be a tutorial for a specifc topic it is basically teaching you how to code in gamesald. Making an attribute is making an attribute whatever the specific example. That's what most of us have done, we watched the videos and through the whole of them you learn the sum of the parts in gamesald. It's a slow process and it takes months to learn gamesalad well. Yes many parts of the software are easy, you can within a few minutes make and actor move et...but to really understand it and how to perform more complex things takes time. There is no easy way other than to study and keep trying things out. Good Luck.

    lol everything is complex while im making a game on gs im learning coding :P so i watch a lot of those videos but what i asked was a very hard thing do thats the only resone why i asked it and it might take me 3months just to find it or learn so i made it a little easier for my self and ask on a forms i do have other things to do like learn coding go to school make a website make a Facebook page ya i got a lot of things to learn hahahahh so im sorry for being mean but it might take me a year to learn all of theses and i just dont got that kind of time to learn like 5 things and research them that will take forever just to find a ok page and only get to read it for a short amount of time.

    videos, link, or just tell me about it would be nice

    Before learning GameSalad you might need to learn some basic manners, it will make your life much easier on the forums.

    5 separate people have taken time out of their day to type out around a thousand words of advice, numerous links were dug up and provided for you and people generally gave you a lot of good information, but you give the impression that you didn't feel their efforts were good enough for you, so not only didn't you bother to thank anyone for helping you out but you were needlessly rude.

    I can't see people wanting to help you if you treat them like !@#$%, and if you are too busy to invest some of your own time in learning then I suspect your Gamesalad career will be short lived.

    ok instead of talking crap to me why don't yo u just give me a good link that i can learn great from instead of cookbook and the videos beacuse i did them all and they didn't teach me any of the stuf f that i wanted to know any enduaction link is good

    nothing teaches you anything … learning is an activity that occurs in an individual's brain …

    a good teacher is someone who stimulates you to learn

    just reading and watching is not learning … using what you read and watch to do something is learning

    Prove how smart you are … use the many resources that are available to you to create something

    unfortunately, American education is now focused on passing tests … that is: demonstrating the ability to retain a mass of information and parrot it back … not on demonstrating the ability to use that information and do something with it!

    Ive been doing this for years now and i learn something new everyday. This isnt something you pick up in an afternoon. Like i said above it takes practice and dedication. If you dont have the time and patience dedicated to learning then your not gonna be able to do much.
