Hi Guys,
We released a game called Tumble Jumble via Chillingo/ClickGamer in Dec 2009 and later via AvenQuest (UK) and Mumbo Jumbo (USA) on PC and i wanted to tell you a little story about the publishers and our nightmare.
EA have since bought out Chillingo so i don't know what there like now but basically your giving them 50% to send out mass mails to review sites, you still have to do all the grunt of the work when it comes to marketing like videos, screenshots, write ups etc etc and you lose control of your game as in you don't have sales reports, promo codes...your flying almost blind.
We also had to chase Chillingo for payment and the last straw was when they sent us a paypal payment (it was normally wired) and we had to pay a large fee to take the money out.
Moving onto the PC publishers...to this day we have only received a few hundred from the UK publisher and absolutely nothing from the US Mumbo Jumbo, yes we have chased and chased and heard all sort of excuses from the guy you were dealing with has now left to we havent had any money from the retailers.
TJ was placed in Walmart and i know at least 5000 units were produced same for the UK version 5k units were made.
I blame TSB and Amazon for this rant....he sent me a pic of Tumble Jumble he found in a retro games store:) thanks for the pic Gilles but it bought up some not so nice memories:P and i got a mail from Amazon UK this morning recommending me my own game:P
This may not apply to some of you but be careful outside the world of the app store.
Darren.
