Replicate Behavior VS Repeating Images for Backgrounds?

Hey Saladeers,
I did a couple of tests with my background image. One was placing it once and using the Replicate Behavior to fill out the wider scene and another physically placing the image next to itself for over a dozen times until the scene was filled.
It appears the size of the game is the same either way and I didn't really notice any difference performance wise testing on the iPhone.
Am I correct in thinking there would be no performance advantage either way and it doesn't matter which method I use? I wonder what the GameSalad chaps think?

Have you put both versions through the gamesalad viewer to compare the frame rate differences? I did a test on a single background image (320-480) and I had a drop of 15 to 20 frames a second!

    Good point.
I should look at that. I tend to not use the viewer as most of the time I have trouble getting it to work. However perhaps after doing it a bunch of times I'll get used to it.

So when using the Replicated image you got a frame rate reduction verses multiple instances?
    Thanks!

Sorry that was not clear ( Am putting my little boy to bed and he is trying to grap my phone off me every 5 seconds lol.)
I tested it with and without a background, I can't belive how much resources a static png can eat up. Would be intresting to find out if a collection of smaller images would be more efficient.
